Hundreds of shoppers are expected to flock back to the Market Town of Hyde in Greater Manchester for the return of its popular monthly Artisan Market.
Now firmly recognised as one of the boroughs favourite monthly events, Hyde’s Artisan Market will celebrate the start of its third season on Saturday 3rd March 2018, when bargain hunters from far and wide will see more than 30 local and visiting Crafters and Artisans who’ll gather to showcase their handmade goods, food products and original artworks on Hyde’s Civic Square.
From ecological produce, to antiques, shabby-chic and handmade gifts, this vibrant and popular monthly market event has become a major launch pad of sales for local artisans, who present a diverse array of handcrafted and locally-produced goods to shoppers on the first Saturday in the month – a monthly event that have become Hyde Town Centre’s busiest weekends of the year!
“The first Artisan Market of 2018 is sure to be a bumper one with a great mix of new and returning artisans who will be presenting their handmade goods throughout the year,” said Hyde’s Artisan Market creator and organiser, Karen Dorney, who added, “It’s wonderful to see so many returning crafters, artists and foodies, who have become firm favourites with many Hyde shoppers and who have gained tremendous value in connecting personally with their customers as well as fellow artisans.”
As always, showing throughout the Artisan Market season, will be another eclectic mix of quirky artworks, and a vast assortment of artisan goods including ceramics, house wares, home accessories, natural products, handmade jewellery, specialty soaps, cards and paper goods, artwork, clothing and Micro-brewery craft beers, as well as several artisan food vendors selling specialty Breads, Home-made Cakes, Cheeses, Preserves and Chutneys, and of course, lots of activities for the kids!
“With traditional town centre markets facing strong competition from out-of-town shopping centres, together with an increasing number of National Discount Stores and Supermarkets’, the monthly Artisan Market, with its ever changing range of creative vendors, provides Tamesiders with a great and much needed alternative to the repetitive everyday shopping offer, by meeting customer exact needs.”
On Hyde’s Artisan Market there are new vendors each month, meaning there are fresh reasons each time to visit and pick up those unique and sometimes quite quirky items, which shoppers wouldn’t find on the High Street!
Town Team Chair, Julia Harrison, who heads the volunteer team that devise and organise many of Hyde’s Town Centre events said, “We are lucky to have markets like this in Hyde which is all down to Karen’s drive and organisational skills, who with the support of the Town Team members, was crucial in forcing through the introduction of the pop-up Artisan Market theme. Since its inception, two years ago, the Artisan Market has proved to be fundamental in enhancing the town centre’s retail development and continues to offer new opportunities for increased footfall as Hyde strives to re-establishes itself as one of Tameside’s most vibrant and exciting shopping destinations.”
Adding fun and the unique ambiance of Hyde’s Artisan Market events will again be a wide range of musical and street theatre offerings from some of the most requested to return acts from last season.
Put a big maker on your calendar for the 1st Saturday in the month to visit Hyde’s Artisan Market.
The Market opens on Saturday 3rd March 2018 from 9.00am till 4.00pm – then, when you’ve filled your shopping bags with bargains – drop into one of Hyde’s many cafés for coffee and cakes or a full blown delicious meal!
